Sofiane Mehdi (left) and Jonathan Castaing (right) prevailed in the February Doubles at the new West London pétanque venue based at South Park, Fulham not far from Wandsworth Bridge on the River Thames.
Part of a series of four Sunday competitions (two dates remain on March 16th and April 20th), the pitches are located at Walnut Grove in the the north west corner of the park near the Sands End Arts and Community Centre. The access is off Peterborough Road and if you visit to play, make sure you avoid the cameras on the residential streets!

Supported by Kenrick’s Wines, the Sands End Arts and Community Centre, the Wandsworth Bridge Road Association and the Friends of South Park, each competition day can accommodate up to 24 teams and the winners and runners up receive cash prizes.

Jonathan and Sofiane edged out Ameen Miah (left) and Steve Daykin (right) in the final, the latter being one of the most travelled pétanque players in England, as in recent years he has been playing a lot in France and holds a FFPJP licence.
For those who would like to play in the remaining rounds in March and April, you can find out more by visiting the Wandsworth Bridge Road Association website and clicking the links to register or just scan the QR code in the image below.
It’s great to see the sport being played down in south west London with the backing of the local community at what looks like a nice venue.
